Comments & Testimonials:

‘I thought the course was GREAT! Exactly what every wannabe ADR artist needs.’  Will

A one day workshop held at krADR Studios, one of the leading post production sound studios in Soho, London, which takes both student and professional actors through the techniques required to excel in this specialist but lucrative area of acting (Equity minimums for this work range from £240.50 to £465 for a four hour session.)

‘Hands down one of the most useful and professionally presented courses for actors.’ Alex

The course covers skills such as microphone and improvising techniques, spotting, learning technical terms and preparation for a wallah session.  Participants will be up at the mic within half an hour of arrival as the workshop is very much a practical one!

‘It was incredible to be able to apply the things we were learning repeatedly throughout the day.’ Kristin

Actors whose first language is not English are welcome as there is often a need for foreign languages in an ADR session, as are regional accents.  Follow up courses will focus on lip synching, revoicing and dubbing.

‘WOW! What can I say? What a truly fantastic day I have had, meeting and working with you all!’ Stacey

You will learn from the award winning ADR director Louis Elman, and the highly experienced actor, loop group actor and motivational speaker David John with technical advice from top ADR mixer Nick Kray.

‘A ginormous thank you to Louis, David and Nick for delivering such an extraordinary inspirational course. I enjoyed the day so much it was truly exhilarating and far exceeded my expectations in every way.’ Julia

Many actors who have attended the workshops have subsequently worked regularly in ADR. Numbers are limited in order for you to receive individual guidance and attention.

‘One of the best courses I’ve been on during my acting career. Excellent value considering the facilities and tutors.’  Alexandra
Fee for the workshop is £250 which includes refreshments throughout the day (lunch not included). Your place will be confirmed once the fee is paid.

Best course I’ve done since drama school in terms of stucture/volume of content covered/expertise of teachers.’ Julia S

Just really enjoyed the day. It really built up my confidence and made me think ADR is something I might be able to do. I didn’t know much about it before and now feel like I know a lot. It was also pretty amazing to see the difference it makes – I’d never really thought about all the background sound in films/TV before, where it came from etc. and can now see what a lengthy and important process it is. It was really great to have the opportunity to visit and record in a studio where so many amazing films/shows have been ‘finished’ as it were.

It was a thoroughly interesting course and well informed. Dave was brilliant, a great teacher, and shared his vast experience with lots of energy and enthusiasm and was very encouraging. Same goes for Louis, lots of knowledge was generously passed on. The engineers were amazing and Nick was very interesting and informative.

I just wanted to say how very much I enjoyed the course. Louis and Dave were brilliant and patient, and I have immense admiration for Nick and James’ incredible technical skills … it was humbling to see all four working together to share their immense knowledge so generously. I really didn’t want the day to end.
Invaluable sessions in a real-world setting offering insights for voice professionals unfamiliar with this type of work … run by a very helpful, open team whose desire to share their skills with enthusiasm and generosity made for a brilliant, fun and extremely worthwhile day.

    Abigail, Dave & Louis,

Thanks so much for a great day on Saturday. I knew nothing when I started and left having had a great day and feeling very confident that I could get a call tomorrow and do an excellent job.

Thank you very much for having me on the course. I had a great day and felt it opened me up to a world I was unaware of. I hope that all I learnt will help pepper my CV in the future. I felt that the course cleared up all the queries and gave me a full understanding of what it involved and how I, as an artist can use my skills in this field.
I don’t think anything was skimmed over or delved into excessively on the day. Each topic was given adequate time, with room for questions if needs be.

I just wanted to write a wee note to say thank you so much for the fantastic workshop on Saturday. It was incredibly enlightening and useful, and I really appreciate Louis, Dave, Nick and James giving up their Saturday to share their expertise with us. I knew very little about ADR before Saturday and I came away feeling invigorated and inspired.

I had a lot of fun at the workshop – it was a good refresher, and Dave’s enthusiasm was infectious. I left feeling confident and hungry to work. The information in the class was very practical and useful. It was passed on in a clear and encouraging way. The whole atmosphere of the day was extremely instructive but also empowering. I especially found Dave John a great workshop leader. He was energetic and clear and knowledgeable, and encouraging.

I found the course very informative, lots of learning but most importantly the hands on approach I thought was invaluable. It really makes a difference and I belive everyone left feeling a lot more confident of what is required of them in a session.
It is a rare opportunity for actors to dip their toe into the ADR waters, I felt it was a very helpful and informative introduction into the ADR world. I would definitely recommend this course to any actors looking to work in this field.

Thanks again for a really fantastic course. I thoroughly enjoyed the day and came away with a wealth of knowledge on which to build on. Hands down one of the most useful and professionally presented courses for actors. It was a joy to learn from people who are at the top of their profession and who love what they do.

So glad I made the day – it was Fun, Friendly and Fast-paced! The best part of the course was the enthusiasm with which everything was taught…Dave was a great leader, Rupert played the director’s part to a tee, and Nick and James’s skill – and readiness to give praise and/or constructive feedback throughout – made the whole day feel genuinely worthwhile.

I thoroughly enjoyed Saturday’s course, and want to thank you for making it all so clear, concise and understandable. You created an atmosphere where it felt safe to ‘have a go’, and the amount of talent and knowledge in the room was impressive. Those guys know how to mix sound!!!! I had a fantastic time, and felt that I learnt so much.

I had a great time at the course on Saturday. I’ve done quite a bit of ADR before so for me it was more of a review, but in fact, a very useful one. When I started working in ADR I was thrown in at the deep end, – and so it was great to simply slow down in a safe environment, and think about what works/ what doesn’t. I would certainly recommend it to friends!

Thanks for a great day on the ADR and Looping course. It was interesting and stimulating. Dave, Nick, Rupert and James between them informed and taught us beautifully.
Some nice humour from the above people kept the day ticking over enjoyably.

You got to me before I got to you to say how good I thought the course was and also so enjoyable. It reminded me of the new methods which was good. So to every question I answer GREAT.
Thanks to you and Dave and Nick and James again.

I was somewhat nervous when I turned up for the course, but the atmosphere was friendly and professional which allowed me to relax and take in the information on offer. It was a great learning curve to be guided through so many aspects of ADR work by top professionals, and have the chance to record under such realistic conditions. I would recommend this course to anyone with an interest in ADR work.

I would just like to say how much I appreciated Louis’ way of treating us: –
giving us a real sense of our importance to the end product we were working on
combined with how exacting that work is.
Also the way in which the technical staff of De Lane Lea explained
everything to us so clearly as we went along.
I have been teaching for many years and it was one of the best teaching sessions I
    have experienced.

I want to thank the whole team for putting so much into the day, for their time and their expertise which goes without saying is invaluable. Not to mention the delicious croissants from Louis and Chocolate Biscuits from you, to keep us going.
I found the day went far too quickly we covered such a lot of ground. I learnt to be far more observant, to work fast, making instant decisions and being flexible enough to change direction when asked to do so.

I enjoyed the course very much particularly in the afternoon and I thought we covered a lot and it also felt to me like good value for money. The only ADR I have experienced is covering my own work on a TV series. My voice work has been very much about voice-overs and audio books so this was a terrific insight into that whole world. I really loved it.

Just a quickie to say a big ‘thank you’ to you and Louis and all involved in last Saturdays workshop. I had a wonderful time, for many reasons: the exceptional commitment to the work by all (actors included), the close attention to detail which reflected in the results, the fact that I was learning more as the day progressed. I never wanted it to end!! I shall look at the credits in a completely new light from now on.

  31. John F on 02/12/2012 at 16:40 said:

Thank you for yesterday’s course. I can only say that I learnt so much; it was invaluable … truly. The enthusiasm and encouragement of Nick, David and James contributed greatly to this; they really were so committed it swept one along and helped sooth the nerves!
Louis, your open, frank honesty, so-wise words of advice and direction and good humour capped the experience.

I thought the course was GREAT! Exactly what every wannabe ADR artist like me needs. The chance to make mistakes and ask questions from the cream of the industry. I thought the transparency and honesty from Louis and Dave was invaluable – it’s obviously important to understand that it’s a highly competitive industry where only the best will survive. So the fact that an environment like this exists for newbies to practice is brilliant.

I thought this was an excellent day’s introduction to the world of ADR. I had done a little bit of dubbing before but I now feel far more educated and confident and in a far better position to seek work in this field.

I thought the course today was excellent. I wish I had known about it
before I did my first ADR session – it was a scary experience having zero
idea what was expected. I learnt a lot today. Dave’s direction and
Nick’s clarification and expertise made it all clear, and fun too. I now feel more confident and much better prepared.

Thank you so much for organising the course yesterday and also for arranging the equity discount (every penny counts).
It was the most useful of sessions that I have attended since I did my acting training and what a lovely bunch of delegates.
Thanks to Dave, Louis, Nick and James for their enthusiasm and for creating an open environment in which we could learn and make mistakes. They were so generous when it came to sharing their skills and tips for working in ADR. It has opened my eyes to another part of the industry I have never tried and now I feel I have the confidence to do so.
